If you haven't jumped into the Podcast pool you really should, the water is great. Podcasting is like mixing the controlled play of a CD with the immense content choice of radio. A couple of my favorite ones are NPR's All Songs Considered and Story of the Day and acoustic Tuesday. One Podcast that I've recently stumbled onto through iTunes is called "Bored Again Christian." Don't be turned off by the cheesy play on words, this Podcast is a great way to hear music from up-and-coming bands who are Christians but don't necessarily play "contemporary Christian Music." Some of these bands and singer-songwriters are really quite talented. If you can get through the forced commentary by host Just Pete, you get to sample on the likes of Sufjan Stevens, Over the Rhine, Romantica, and many others. It's music put out by bands like these that give me hope that there are believers out there who are serious about influencing our culture through quality music.

I saw "The Chronicles of Narnia" today and, aside from a few slow points, was very please with the movie. The parts I expected to be moved by didn't disappoint. The Redemption of Edmund and the Stone Table scenes were especially moving. I was however pleasantly surprised by the way the movie portrayed the four children, especially Peter, Susan and Lucy. As I watched the movie and now have had more time to think about it, I see in them a picture of 3 different types of faith or ways of living out faith. Susan's "faith" is one based on facts. She must see to believe. Always doubting and in a way, a little too grown up. Scared to take the next step until there is concrete evidence that the floor will be there when she does. Peter's faith is one that wants to risk and wants to act courageously but always stops short. He wants so badly to be named among those that have risked much and have triumphed but his lack of belief and lack of courage hold him back. Then there is Lucy...full of faith, wonder and belief. And it was these qualitites that lead her to be the one to discover Narnia. She isn't scared to risk belittlement by her older siblings in order to have them join her in experiencing Narnia. Thankfully there was redemtion for both Susan and Peter's faith...Susan believed and Peter conquered. But for Lucy, her's was the joy of discovering Naria, encouraging the group to stay the course, and, in a very real sense, the true leader of that small group. O to have a faith more like Lucy's.
